Peanut Butter And IBS

When it comes to peanut butter and IBS, many people want to know if peanut butter can trigger IBS?

The answer for the majority of people is a firm no peanut butter cannot trigger IBS. There are always going to be some exceptions to this, and one of these exceptions might be if you have a peanut butter allergy or intolerance to peanut butter.

If you are following a FODMAP diet peanut butter is a low FODMAP food.

This can change thou as some brands of peanut butter add other things such as refined sugar and flavourings.

When considering other forms of nut butter, IBS sufferers must additionally consider if the nut butter that they opt for contains high levels of insoluble fibre.  These high fibre nuts can cause bloating in some IBS sufferers.
